KNOWING WHAT TO DO, AND THEN DOING IT
The first challenge is knowing what to do. It can be extremely confusing to sort through all the conflicting information of diet, exercise and lifestyle choices. The information is constantly changing. Supposedly authoritative sources are in conflict. Everything that the American Heart Association has been telling us all along is wrong. Modern healthcare is a racket that has little respect for truth or real science. We have lost all perspective and common sense. It's time to get back to the fundamentals, use common sense and take charge of your own and your family's health.
The Foundation of Your Health
is Created By the Choices You Make,
Day by Day.
My role is to sort through the emerging literature on diet and nutrition, exercise and self care and provide you with the latest and best information based both on research and on my experience with myself and with patients. Ultimately, your health and the decisions you make are your responsibility. My suggestion is to start with the basic principles of health. Your body is meant to heal. It needs good, whole foods, sunshine, appropriate exercise, rest, relief from constant worry, social connection and a sense of belonging in the universe. These are the foundation; not always easy but basic to any program of health.
If we start from these premises and from that perspective examine research studies, traditional healing traditions and clinical experience, I think we can come to some reasonable conclusions. If there is a choice between supporting the body in a natural process and taking a synthetic chemical to suppress a symptom, the choice seems obvious. There are powerful forces that will try to convince you to take what might seem to be the most convenient and quickest path, but nature will not be mocked.

self care information you can use
to make sensible and health choices in your daily life.
Health is a Journey, Not A Destination
Knowing what to do is only the first step. Your job is to take chose a goal, make a plan and carry through. Implementing a program of self care is a real
challenge for some of us. There are always considerations of having enough time, energy, focus, space, money, and on and on. But the biggest barrier is often within. Change can be difficult. If you've never exercised, starting an exercise program can be difficult. It often takes weeks or months to really feel the benefit and meantime there may be new aches and pains. Most of us have found food, drink or some other activities like watching TV, web browsing, shopping, etc., is an excellent way to forget about the stress of life. So giving up those pleasures for a healthier activity means we need to find another way of facing the stress.
One step at a time. It is important to be realistic so you can succeed. Some people are able to take on huge changes. Know yourself. If you made one change a week or one a month, and stuck with that, you could make huge improvements in your life and in your health.
Making Room for Health in Your Life
The first order of business is thinkig through what it will take at a practical level to make change happen. This may involve making changes in time, money, asking for help, finding resources. I take the time to help you through this step.
Avoiding the Landmines
In addition to all the positive choices you can make, you also need to avoid things that
can undermine your health and the health of those you care about. Many common household and personal care products contain toxic chemicals, many of which are known hormone disruptors. Dental procedures can create significant health problems for susceptible people. We are only beginning to understand and appreciate the implications of the electromagnetic smog we all live in. You can only do so much, and creating more fear is not healthy. But you can make healthier choices whenever possible. Here, information is the key and it is not always easy to find, interpret and trust.
Psychological Reversal
Will power does not seem to work for most people for the long term. If you see what needs to be done, and just do it, great. Many people find themselves struggling to maintain good habits. This is often due to psychological reversal. This is a term that comes out of the work of Callahan and other pioneers of energy psychology. It is the observation that many times people have unconscious resistance to doing what they are choosing at a conscious level. Fortunately, there are fairly rapid and effective techniques for overcoming psychological reversal using techiniques such as EFT, TAT, ART and PKP.
Coaching and Follow-up
We have programs to help support your choice to become healthy. We've been there and know that having support, having someone to hold you accountable and someone to help keep perspective or help you troubleshoot a change process, can make the difference between success and failure.
Help When Your Own Efforts Art Not Enough
Sometimes, just eating correctly, managing stress and exercising is not enough to turn chronic health problems around. Long term metabolic damage can require some specialized assistance. Toxins, stealth infections, hidden allergies, parasites, neurological dysfunction and a host of other issues, can block you way to health. That's what I'm here for. If you're curious, give me a call.
